DESCRIPTION:The Elkhart County Historical Museum and Elkhart Public Library invite the community to celebrate the life’s work of Emma Barrett Molloy. The 19th century advocate for women’s rights has been honored with a State Historical Marker in front of the downtown library on High Street. \nThis event is free and open to all. \nMolloy became the first female newspaper editor locally when she took on the role for the Elkhart Observer\, 1872-76. The journalist later became an evangelist promoting temperance and prohibition of alcohol\, as well as voting rights and equality for women.

She’s a registered nurse with 15 years of experience\, and a heart attack survivor. \nAs someone living with premature heart disease\, Mia is passionate about educating others on the risks they may also be living with\, how they can care for their own heart health\, and also how they can advocate for themselves within the healthcare system. \nThis cookies and coffee talk will last about 45 minutes\, with time set aside for Q&A.
