Books, audiobooks, movies and music not available in Elkhart Public Library’s collection may be available to cardholders through our Interlibrary Loan program.
Libraries have the ability to share collections across the United States. Generally, it takes two weeks or more to receive materials.
ILL is available to local cardholders in good standing. Cardholders may place a request in person at one of our locations or by calling Reference Department at 574-522-5669.
The likelihood of obtaining the requested item depends on the information provided about the particular item sought – title and author, periodical, publication date, and more.
Occasionally, requested items may be available from other libraries at a fee, and some items – such as new releases, popular movies, and reference and genealogy items – may not be obtainable. Borrowed items are subject to overdue and replacement fees, and any renewal requests are subject to approval by the lending library.
