Students and teachers at schools inside of EPL’s service area are eligible for a one-year nonresident library card at no charge.

To get a card, complete the form on this page to get started.

A Public Library Access Card may be needed to check out items at other libraries in Indiana. You can purchase this card at any Elkhart Public Library location.

Teacher/Student Card Registration

  • Select which school for your card to be dropped off.
  • Type in the first and last name of classroom teacher.
  • The best number at which to reach you. If you wish to receive notifications via text, please list your cell phone number here.

Text message delivery is subject to your mobile carrier network availability, so delivery is not guaranteed.   • Elkhart Public Library requires identification to fulfill card requests. The information supplied must have an address matching the information provided on this form. Acceptable identification includes: • Driver’s license with photo • State or local identification card with photo • Passport or Country of Origin ID with photo • Check with imprinted name and address • Bank statement issued within the last two months • Property tax bill issued within the last year • Current rental agreement issued within the last year • Utility bill issued within the last two months • Vehicle registration issued within the last year • School identification card • Report card • Birth certificate

  • Elkhart Public Library requires identification to fulfill card requests. Other ways to get a card

Businesses and property owners: Businesses, organizations and property owners within the EPL service area also qualify for borrowing privileges.

  • An organization card is available for use by multiple people within a local business or organization.
  • Individuals owning or leasing property inside the EPL service area may register for a card using a current tax receipt or lease as proof of address.

Nonresident students and teachers: Individuals residing in Indiana and affiliated with a school inside the EPL service area are eligible for a one-year nonresident card at no charge.

Nonresidents: For individuals residing outside the EPL service area, a library card with borrowing privileges may be purchased at any of our locations for $87.

All nonresident cards are good for one year.
