Great news: Your OverDrive collection just got way bigger

If you like the convenience of reading on your tablet or phone, this news is for you.

Libraries across Indiana are combining their buying power to make OverDrive even more robust. Along with a vast collection of titles – hundreds of thousands, at last count – you hopefully will have shorter wait times for the best titles.

Here’s what to do if you have been using OverDrive through Elkhart Public Library:

• Log in with your library card barcode and PIN;
• That’s it! Your current checkouts and holds are preserved in your account.

If you’re using the Libby mobile app (that’s the Overdrive app!):

  • Click the three lines in the middle of the bottom menu
  • Select “add library”
  • Type in and select “Indiana Digital Library”
  • Select Elkhart Public Library from the list of libraries
  • Log in with your library car barcode and PIN

One change is you can select a different checkout period for your titles – seven, 14 or our usual 21 days. You also can now put up to 20 items on your hold list.

If you have any problems or other questions, call the Reference Desk at 574-522-5669 or stop into any EPL location.

OverDrive is more than just books, too. You’ll find current magazines, audiobooks and even some videos available for checkout. The Digital Library resource also comes with the convenience of never having to remember your due date, find a book drop, or worry about lost materials. (You still might have to fret about water damage, which for your tablet’s sake, we hope never happens.)

While the Indiana Digital Library is home to our local OverDrive titles, please know you can still offer suggestions on what we should add. EPL cardholders will have the advantage and be put at the top of the order when placing holds for titles we’ve purchased.
