5/3/1968 pg. 15 Several thousand persons jammed Main Street Thursday afternoon to greet Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, who was in the city about two hours. Kennedy is standing at the podium in front of the Hotel Elkhart canopy. With him on the platform were his wife Ethel, St. Louis Cardinals general manager Stan Musial; Arthur Decio, co-chairman for Citizens for Kennedy, Third Congressional District, Harry Eby county chairman of the Kennedy for President Committee, and Elkhart County Labor Leader Henry Crussemeyer. 10-30-1976 U.S. SEN. BIRCH BAYH (right) isn't running for office this year, but U.S. Rep. John Brademas [left] is. The two Democrats were in Elkhart Friday to drop by the ongoing state National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) branch conference at the Holiday Inn. Both are life members of the NAACP. Bayh did a little politicking Friday in the Third Congressional District, which Brademas represents; US Senator from 1963 to 1981; (Brademas not pictured)
