Summer Reading Challenge sets more records

Elkhart Public Library celebrated another record-setting Summer Reading Challenge at McNaughton Park on July 17.

The library’s signature program grew by 15 percent with nearly 2,200 readers participating over the nine weeks.

Kids read a lot, earned plenty of rewards from local businesses and destinations, and enjoyed fun events across five library locations, local parks and more.

Ranger Distribution Inc. and Froggy 102.7 FM returned as library champions, supporting the fun all summer long.

Charvi Laladia won the Indiana Dinosaur Museum and South Bend Chocolate Company staycation package. Charvi, who read all 60 days and submitted 21 book reports over the summer, will be attending West Side Middle School this fall.

The best part of all the summer fun? Kids are better prepared to return to school in August, set up for even greater success in their new classrooms.
