The Book Bus delivers for Elkhart.
Elkhart Public Library’s Book Bus started rolling in the summer of 2020 to bring books and library services directly to Elkhart neighborhoods. We’ve given out more than 30,000 books to kids in our community in that time.
It seems EPL has always been on the move. In 1922, librarians took our original “book auto” to show off at a national meeting in Detroit – a fitting trip, since we were among the bookmobile pioneers in the early 20th Century.
Today, our values remain the same. We continue to provide storytimes and reading challenges, tutoring for young learners through our Growing Readers program, and – of course, home delivery services for those who cannot visit our five locations.
With a donation of just $9, you are helping provide books for three children. That’s a real difference maker, because we know children need access to books in the home, as well as at school and when they visit the library.
