What does a library card get me?

In a word: everything!

The best part about a library card is that nearly everything is free. That’s right: free materials, books, online content and more, all with one little card.

To quickly search for any item in our catalog, as well as its status and check out availability, check our online catalog here.

Let’s break it down:

Books

With thousands and thousands of books, plus ebooks, EPL is sure to have one to appeal to everyone. Our books circulate for three weeks, with the exception of certain reference titles, and renewals are allowed.

Holds can be placed on new releases and books already be checked out. The best part is there is no limit on the number of books that can be checked out at one time.

Ebooks are available on any device through our Digital Library including on Libby and Hoopla.

Audiobooks

For those preferring to listen to a book, the library has thousands of audiobooks available as well. Audiobooks also circulate for three weeks and are eligible for holds and renewals. There is a limit of 10 per cardholder.

For more audiobooks check out digital resources Libby and Hoopla.

CDs

EPL has thousands of CDs, covering a variety of genres, including comedy, sound effects and even some audiobooks. CDs circulate for three weeks and are allowed renewals and holds. There is a limit of 10 per cardholder.

No CD player? No problem, music is available to stream through Hoopla.

DVDs

A wide swath of genres are available on DVD, popular and obscure movies and TV shows as well as a number of educational and children’s offerings. DVDs circulate for one week and there is a limit of six per cardholder. Holds may only be placed on the educational DVDs selection and no renewals are allowed on any DVDs. Cardholders 17 and up may check out DVDs not designated as juvenile.

More movies and TV shows are available for streaming through Hoopla.

Magazines and newspapers

Catch up on all the latest news and other topics with EPL’s periodicals section. There are back issues for some of the newspapers that the library subscribes to available but newspapers do not circulate. Come to the periodical desk on the second floor to see a newspaper.

Magazines do circulate but cannot be renewed or put on hold. They circulate for one week and there is a limit of 10 per cardholder.

For more magazines and articles check EPL’s digital resources like Libby, PressReader and INSPIRE, plus more.

Foreign language and ESL/ANR

EPL offers a variety of books for foreign language readers as well as those who are learning English or to read.

The English as a Second Language and Adult New Reader collections circulate for three weeks and allow holds as well as renewals.

Foreign language books have a wide variety of Spanish-language items but also in French, German, Italian, Russian, Ukranian, Latin, Hebrew and Japanese. These items circulate for three weeks and can be renewed or held.
